Summary

 

We are looking for a thoughtful and experienced data engineer to help design and develop advanced business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern data engineering concepts and will work closely with the data architects and project managers.  The Data Engineer role will also work with clients at all levels of the organization to drive results and proactively resolve problems and identify opportunities.

  

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in all phases of data warehouse implementation, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing and production implementation.

  • Design and development using the Azure data platform (including Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lakes and Azure Data Factory), dimensional modeling, SQL development, and Power BI.

  • Create and maintain tables, create views, write queries, build PL/SQL packages, write stored procedures, triggers, and functions, and design and develop complex ETL/ELT processes.
    Develop Power BI Data models and recommend best practices for report creation and visualizations.

  • Troubleshoot Power BI reporting issues and conduct performance tuning for data loads and report/dashboard performance.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or proven hands-on experience.

  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Azure Data Services including Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lakes, and Power BI with at least 3 years of experience with Microsoft BI tools.

  • 3+ years in Reporting and Analytics using Power BI - M Query, DAX, Data Modelling, dataflows, and RLS.
    Experience in building Power BI data visualization, reporting, and dashboards.

  • Read and interpret physical data models, primarily dimensional models.

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable and complex ADF data pipelines and dataflows.

  • Knowledge of Big data technologies - Azure Data Bricks is a plus.
    Able to work as a team member and willing to work independently when required.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM and SDLC environment.
