Summary

The Data Architect’s work focuses on architecture of Business Intelligence systems. This role will build, optimize and maintain conceptual, logical, and physcial database models. He/she will develop database solutions that translate requirements into approaches to provide analytics, visualizations and insights so that business decisions can be made with supporting data. The Data Architect will partner effectively with all levels of the organization, lead others, drive results, proactively identify and resolve problems, and make challenging decisions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business leaders and the BI team to evaluate requirements and develop business intelligence, visualization, analytics and data warehousing solutions

  • Design and develop data warehouse database schemas

  • Design and develop extract, transform, and load (ETL) mappings, procedures, and schedules

  • Coordinate activities with data source application owners to ensure integration and data integrity

  • Design and develop reports, dashboards, KPIs, and data extracts

  • Work with team members and client to understand, address and clarify the business insights desired

  • Create advanced analytical models 

  • Support the ability to prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

  • Support technical installation and configuration of installed applications

  • Plan for growth and changes to scale the environment as needed

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management/Computer Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong technical experience in ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, IBM DataStage, or Microsoft Integration Services), database platforms (Oracle or SQL Server), and reporting/visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, Cognos, Business Objects, SSRS)

  • Excellent knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within a data warehousing and business intelligence environment 

  • Able to work as a team member and willing to work independently when required

  • Strong organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivated and able to develop rapport and positive work relationshipsng relationships with coworkers
